제가 국민학교 저학년일 때, 태권도장을 잠시 다녔었습니다.
When I was in 1st and 2nd grade of Elementary School, I went to Taekwondo gym for a short time.
지금과 다르게 체구도 작고 체력도 약해서인지 1~2달 다니고 코피가 나는 바람에 더이상 다니지를 못했네요.
Unlike now, I was small and weak, so I had a nosebleed in a month or two, so my mother wouldn't let me go anymore.
그러다가 동네에 새로생긴 주산학원을 좀 오래 다녔던 기억이 납니다.
Then, I remember going to Jusan institute, which was newly opened in the neighborhood, for a long time.
태권도장이랑 같이 운영하던 데인데 토요일마다 비디오로 만화영화를 틀어줬었습니다.
The institute was run with the Taekwondo gym, and every Saturday, they played the Manga on video.
선생님들은 친구들이랑 많이 보러 오라는 얘기를 꼭 당부하셨었고요.
The teachers asked us to come and watch it with our friends.
태권도장 벽에 20인치정도 될까요? 아니면 그보다도 더 작은 화면으로 비디오를 틀어줬어요.
The teacher played the video on a 20-inch television or smaller, I guess.
동네에 모든 또래 남자아이들이 빽빽하게 모여앉아서 그걸 봤죠ㅎ
Boys of all ages sat in the neighborhood and watched it.
아버지세대 얘기를 들어보면 시골마을마다 텔레비젼이 1대정도 뿐어어서 재밌는 드라마를 함께 모여서 봤더라는 얘기를 들은 적이 있는데 생각해보면 우리 모습이랑 별반 차이가 없어 보였습니다.
In my father's generation, there was only one television set in a rural village, so I heard that everyone in the neighborhood watched a fun drama together. Come to think of it, it didn't look much different from us.
당시 가장 있기 있는 만화들은 모두 일본 망가였어요.
The most popular cartoons at that time were all Japanese Manga.
주요 레파토리는 타이거마스크, 철인 28호, 고라이온 등이 기억나네요.
I remember the main repertoire was TIGER MASK, IRONMAN NO. 28, GO-LION etc.
그 중에서도 타이거마스크를 가장 열심히 보지 않았었나 싶습니다.
Among them, I think I watched Tiger Mask the most.
비디오도 보면서 또 태권도장 한쪽에서는 꼭 따라하는 아이들이 있었죠ㅎ
There were kids who watched videos and followed them on one side of the Taekwondo gym.
그러다 서로 싸우기도 하고 코피도 나고ㅎㅎ
Then they fought each other, and one of them was nosebleed.
김일 아저씨 얘기를 하면 나이가 더 들어보일거 같습니다만... 김일아저씨의 박치기가 기억나긴 합니다.
I think I'll look older if I talk about Kim Il, but... I do remember his headbutt.
그 때 빡빡머리 김일 아저씨가 마스크 쓴 일본 선수를 박치기로 제압하던 모습ㅎ 통쾌했죠ㅎㅎ
It was really refreshing to see the bald head Kim Il beat the Japanese player in the mask with headbutt.
어린 마음에 일본이 싫었지만 또 아이러니하게도 타이거마스크가 우리 또래에게 인기가 있었어요ㅠ
I hated Japan at that time, but ironically, Tiger Mask was popular with kids our age.
그 다음에는 AKFN에서 WWF라는 레슬링 경기 중계에 제 또래 남자애들은 푹 빠졌었죠.
And then boys my age fell in love with the broadcast of a wrestling match called WWF on AKFN.
헐크 호간, 워리어, 마초맨 등등... 그 화려한 의상과 쇼맨십...
Hulk Hogan, Warrior, Macho Man, etc... That fancy outfit and showmanship....
오락실에서는 WWF 오락을 했고, 학교에서는 그 짧은 쉬는 시간에 경기를 따라했죠ㅎ
We did WWF entertainment in the arcade, and in the school, we imitated them and copied the game during a short break.
프로레슬링이 미국의 5대 스포츠라는 얘기를 들은거 같은데 가끔 보면 정말 유치하고 촌스럽기도하고...
I've heard that professional wrestling is 1 of the top 5 sports in the United States, but it's really childish and tacky these days.
제가 늙은건가요?ㅎ
I don't know if I'm too old or mature.
